Your Welsh Site


All Local Site Administrators should review the Welsh Language Standards and ensure content adheres to legislation. All webpages, documents, images, forms etc. that are in English must have an equivalent in Welsh. A Welsh and English version of a website will be provided, but it is the responsibility of the content owners to populate and ensure all links are mapped to the correct page.


A Cymraeg link will be a standard feature of the CMS and will be situated prominently at the top of every web page under secondary links. Content Managers will need to manually link English to Welsh pages via the backend CMS Translation tab.

 


Managing your Welsh Site Permissions

 

Editor Permissions

  • Full-site Admins are able to Allocate different types of access to different types of users. You may want to give users Editor access over a specific area of the site. This would mean the Editor could be responsible for Creating, Updating, Publishing, and Deleting any and all content in their specific area.
  • Giving this type of access requires permission to be granted in a number of areas; depending on the amount of control you would like the Editor to have. Any changes you make to the Permissions on your English Language site you will then need to replicate on your Welsh Language site. For further information please check out our Editor Permissions Page

 

Permission Groups

  • A local site Admin has the ability to create user groups with specific permission sets, allowing users to edit or publish content in some areas but not in others. When new users are created you will need to take into account what parts of the site you wish to allow the user access to.
  • Although the Groups and Users created will duplicate over onto your Welsh language site, all other steps in this process would need to be completed on both your English and Welsh language sites.

CMS Tools to help manage your Welsh Content

 

Single-Page Translation - Creating a second version of your site in another language can be very time-consuming. However, with this system functionality site admins can automatically create a new translated version of the content (page, folder, or link) on sites related through the CMS Translations Plugin. We would advise proofreading any translated content before publishing. For further information check out our guide on how to create a Single Page Translation. 

Page Mapping and Track My Translations - Once you have created a new page, If you have a Welsh version of your site it is then necessary to Map these pages together. You would only need to manually create this page mapping if you are not using the site's automatic translation function. Automatic Corresponding Content - This Plugin has been created in order to help organisations adhere to the Welsh Language Standards and ensure that the equivalent Welsh language pages are created to match all English language content. Going forward, on publishing a new English Language webpage this would then trigger the creation of an equivalent page on the Welsh Language site; with a site-specific text notification message displaying, warning the user that the full Welsh content now needs to be filled in. For further information check out our guide on how to Use Automatic Corresponding Content
