CMS Content Types and What They Do

The CMS offers a range of content types in order for you to mange and display your website information.

Type

Description

Page

Page content types are the website pages of your site. These are the most commonly used content types in which you can add text, images, and links, as well the CMS Plugins, Tables and Forms.

Accordion

An accordion content type is where content is organised into expandable/collapsible sections.  Clicking on a heading expands the corresponding section to reveal its content, while clicking again collapses it, reducing scrolling and allowing users to focus on specific content areas. This content page type should be used under a Folder.

Contact Card

These contain contact details that can be placed anywhere within the website's content. The benefit of a contact card is that if you need to update these details, you only need to update it within the card and it will update in every location where the card is displayed on your website. This content type can be used with the Contact Cards and Profile List Layout. These can be created under your Contacts List Asset Bucket.

Event

This content type allows you to create an upcoming event. Event pages that are set up as Child Pages under a Calendar Page Type will have extra scheduling options available that allow them to appear as linked items within your Calendar display.

Page - No title or crumb

This Content Type removes the title and crumb from the page, to allow you to pull this information through using the Header Panel 2 layout instead

Folder
Folder content types allow you to aggregate related content into a defined group. Folders are most often used for sections of the site that may contain news or blog type content. For example, folders typically display the title and summary fields of each content item that lives directly beneath it, and pagination occurs automatically.
Asset contact bucket

Contact Buckets are a means to group together related contact cards, so it's easy for admin users to store and locate this content. Below the Contact Asset Bucket you are only able to add Contact Card Content Type or create further Contact Asset Buckets

Asset file bucket

File Buckets are a means to group together related file types, so it's easy for admin users to store and locate this content. Below the File Asset Bucket you are only able to add Files/Documents/Images (Singularly or via Quick Upload) or create further File Asset Buckets

Asset gallery bucket

Gallery Buckets are a means to group together related image galleries, so it's easy for admin users to store and locate this content. Below the Gallery Asset Bucket you are only able to add the Gallery Content Type - Your Images would then need to be uploaded to the individual Galleries via File or Quick Upload

Asset link bucket

Link Buckets are a means to file together related website links, so it's easy for admin users to store and locate this content. Below the Asset Links Bucket you are only able to add Links or create further Links Asset Buckets. Your website will already contain some Links Buckets which store your sites Header, Second Header and Footer Links.

Folder - No title or crumb
You can use this Folder type to create a content folder as normal, however the title of the folder and crumb will not appear on the front end
Gallery

Gallery is a great way to collate a number of related pictures, which can then be displayed on a single page using the Image Gallery Layout.

Invisible
Invisible Folders can hold pages that you want visible on the site, but the folder itself will be hidden from the front end user. Currently used for Use of Site to hold content that sits in the header and footer of your website for example: Accessibility Statement and Privacy Policies
Link

Link content types are simply URL links. They can be used to link to another section of your existing website, or to external websites

External/Video

This content type can be used under the Links Bucket to add in a video for the Video Carousel Layout

File

File content types are specifically any kind of file type that the system administrator has allowed the CMS to manage. File icons are used to denote most of the common file types such PDF, Word, Excel, Zip, and many others

Document

Upload a document using this content file type which includes associated image options. This will allow you to show an image with your document when they are displayed within a list.

Media

Upload a media file using this content type, can be used in conjunction with Video Layouts such as Muted Video Header

Calendar

Calendar content types allow you to display scheduled content in a traditional calendar format. Content placed directly under a "calendar" is scheduled by its "schedule" and has a number of configurable options such as whether or not the item should repeat, the frequency of when it should display, and more.

Quick Upload
Quick Upload is not a content type. Rather, it's a way to upload multiple files, such as images and/or documents, all at once instead of having to upload each item individually. This is very useful when you wish to create a gallery of images, or even a library of documents
Custom Page Type
Some websites may have unique page types only available to them. These custom page types are commonly used with the Advanced Table List - Requested Page Type layout
