How Do I Add the Cookie Control
The Cookie Control Plugin - can be added anywhere on the page however, it is advisable to add it to the top region of your home page. Doing so, where inheritance has been allowed on child content items, the Cookie Control Plugin will appear automatically and will not require adding to every single page. In the event that sections of your website are not inheriting or are starting a new cascade, you will need to ensure to add the Cookie Control Plugin from scratch.
It is very important to ensure you apply the same configuration settings in every place you add the Cookie Control Plugin, failing to do so will compromise the user's setting preference as they will be consenting to different cookie options. It is also important you do not implement the Cookie Control Plugin more than once on a page, as this will load multiple times slowing your page load and duplicating the process happening in the background.
Cookie Types
- Go to the page (home) you wish to add Cookie Control
- Select the Pencil Icon and Edit Layout
- Drag and Drop the Cookie Control Plugin to the Top Row region
- Amend the settings as you wish (Or stick to the default to be consistent with other NHS Wales websites)
- Save and Publish to save your changes

Reject button name: Defaulted to - 'Reject Non-Essential Cookies'. - The relevant text should clearly explain what the visitor is rejecting. This will accept Essential cookies and reject analytical/marketing cookies
Text on: Toggle label to indicate cookies can be created
Text off: Toggle label to indicate cookies cannot be created
Essential Cookies: These are only the ones needed for your website to function properly. No tracking, marketing or analytics or anything else
For each category, there is a dropdown field with all the known services we at NHS Wales use. They have all been configured and are ready for use on your website, you just need to select them.
Services like Google Analytics require an identification key, a field will then be provided to you to populate the unique key into. Only select the services you are using, if one is not on the list, please contact the CMS Support Team.
