Definition and Purpose

A Meta Description is a short snippet of text that summarizes the content of a web page. This snippet is placed in the HTML code of a web page within a meta tag and is displayed on a Search Engine Results Page (SERP) just under the page’s URL. Although it does not directly impact search engine rankings, the quality of a Meta Description can significantly influence a user's decision to visit the site.

The quality of your Meta Description can influence the decision of your users as to whether they want to visit your site or not. The more appealing and descriptive your Meta Description is, the more likely users will choose to visit your site.
